Dr. Yogrishi Vishvketu, affectionately known as Vishva-ji, is an internationally renowned Yoga master, scholar, and humanitarian. He is a lifelong practitioner of the Himalayan Yogic tradition, with over four decades of dedicated sādhanā (spiritual discipline), study, and teaching.
Born in Northern India into a family immersed in the wisdom of Ayurveda, Sanskrit, and traditional healing arts, Vishva-ji was introduced to the path of Yoga from a very young age. His early years were spent in gurukula-style education, where spiritual teachings were transmitted orally, experientially, and with deep respect for lineage and dharma.
His formal education culminated in a PhD in Yoga Philosophy, earned from Gurukul Kangri University in Haridwar — one of India’s oldest and most respected Vedic institutions. This rigorous academic training, combined with his immersive Yogic lifestyle, positions Vishva-ji as a rare bridge between scriptural scholarship and embodied wisdom.
Ashrams have long been part of India’s spiritual and cultural fabric. In the Vedic period, sages and students gathered in gurukuls—forest-based schools where teachings were shared orally in sacred settings. Mentioned in the Upanishads, Mahabharata, and Ramayana, ashrams were places of wisdom, healing, and divine encounters. Beyond meditation, they served as centres for Ayurveda, astronomy, ecology, arts, and service. Today’s ashrams carry forward this legacy, bridging ancient values with modern seekers from around the world.

At Akhanda Yoga, our Ashram and Retreats environments are spaces where ancient Yogic values meet intentional living. Rooted in the philosophy of holistic integration (Akhanda), we honour all paths and levels of practice, offering space for devotion, knowledge, discipline, and joy.
We believe in the power of collective spiritual intention: when a group of individuals come together with sincerity and presence, the environment becomes charged with healing energy.
Our free daily community Agni Hotra practice has been shared with thousands of global yoga practitioners, both online and in person. These sacred fire rituals uplift not only the individual but contribute to global energetic wellbeing.

We provide:

Many women from around the world have experienced empowerment, peace, and transformation during their Ashram and Retreat stays.
Ashrams often hold space for the lineage of a living tradition. At Akhanda Yoga,
we honour the teachings passed down through Himalayan Master Yogrishi Vishvketu.
But is it required to have a Guru to stay at an ashram or retreats? Not at all. While many
people are called to deepen their relationship with a teacher, the we welcomes all sincere seekers.
You may simply come for rest, retreat, or curiosity—and still leave transformed.
Lineage is not about hierarchy—it’s about connection, integrity, and carrying
forward timeless knowledge with respect and responsibility.
